Amie Swanson

National Certified Coach

I started riding at 5 years of age, learning Western Pleasure first. I competed at low level barrel racing in my younger years in Alberta. In my early 20s, I moved to English riding and competed in both Trillium Hunters and A level Jumpers under the tutelage of Judy Henderson. It was there that I started Eventing on my mounts "Goofy" and "Storm Warning".

Undoubtedly, I learned the most as a groom and working student for several different riders in the Hunter/Jumper world as well as the Dressage side. That is where I fell in love with Dressage. I have been a scribe at Palgrave for Dressage shows occasionally.

While in London, I was the show manager for the Trillium show at Henderson Farm, organizing the show schedule, collecting money, booking judges and ring crews. I also assisted in organizing the annual Hunter Pace that ran over 15 km and over 50 jumps to set up.  Through all of this, I coached under different coaches, having my own students and filling in when coaches needed help. While in London , Amie worked for SARI (Special Abilities Riding Institute) working as a certified therapeutic riding instructor. She ran summer camps and taught lessons. I have also trained and sold several horses over the years.

I loves to teach and that extends not only in the equestrian world but in my profession as Paramedic. Currently she teaches for Simcoe County Paramedics as well as  Sunnybrook Hospital. Somehow, I fit all of this in around my full time job.
